DreamBirth made a huge difference in my positive outlook on the delivery and how I actually managed the pain naturally.
DreamBirth is invaluable. My labor progressed very quickly and I am convinced that the imagery work helped: my baby and body just knew what to do.
My baby was born by planned cesarean. He wasn’t afraid or anxious or confused like a lot of cesarean babies. I attribute his comfort and ease at being born to the DreamBirth imagery. It also contributed to my fast recovery.
I am confident I never would have had the stamina and optimism necessary to get through labor without DreamBirth. |
Practicing DreamBirth Labor: Before, During and After exercises consistently will enhance your labor experience. By using your imaginal mind you become a partner with your body in bringing forth the healthy, happy baby you have dreamt of. The exercises are short, 1 to 3 minutes at the most, to maintain spontaneity and truth.
Some sample exercises and descriptions:
ANCESTRY SUPPORT
This is an exercise to feel the support of mothers in your lineage, and women friends who are already mothers, even if they cannot physically be present.
THE COCOON
If you are going to the hospital, create your own cocoon of privacy and protection to greatly ease labor.
THE GARDEN
The birth of your baby is a natural process. You will be in a safe place surrounded by those you love.
LABOR INTENT
This exercise is to set the intent for your body to disregard interruptions during labor.
AT THE MOMENT OF CROWNING
Crowning is your moment of greatest opening.
BONDING WITH YOUR NEWBORN
Use your womb energy to connect with and protect your child at all times.
DreamBirth is a method devised by psychologist and imagery teacher Catherine Shainberg to assist mothers and their attendants with the process of giving birth. It is simple, effective and creative. You will amaze yourself with the richness of your images, and the wonder of it will move your body to perform at its peak.
